Why Buy New
A home is a huge investment and the idea of being a homeowner can seem daunting! But according to property experts, now is the perfect time to get on the property ladder – or to climb the next rung. Over the next two years, house prices are set to rise an astonishing 10-15% across the South of England.
But why buy new? We’ve got plenty of reasons why a new house makes for a fantastic investment.
Purchase
The sale and purchase of houses is a notoriously messy business, so why not make it as easy as possible? When you buy a new home, there’s no upwards chain to fall through, so it makes buying a whole lot easier and quicker.
Also, Government schemes such as Help to Buy and Starter Homes are only available on new homes. These schemes make buying a home a more achievable goal with reduced deposits.
Warranty
Developers of new build homes are required to have a warranty such as NHBC’s Buildmark. This protects buyers once the deposit has been paid, but the house is not yet built. As well as this, it provides an agreement that the house will be built to specification, and other benefits such as structural repairs for up to 10 years.
Specifications
New homes are always built to the latest regulations with the most up to date tools and methods. This means that it is unlikely that you’d need to carry out any works or repairs once you’ve moved in.
New homes are built to be much more energy efficient – up to 4 times more in fact. Compared with old homes you could save significantly on energy consumption.
Our New Houses
The McIntosh DBR team are currently working on a new development site in Wookey, Somerset. The 1.27-acre site will have 9 brand new homes, set in a beautiful rural location.
The homes range from 2 to 5 bedrooms, with allotted parking spaces and garages. Each house will have a sizable private garden with a designated recycling area to make sustainable living easier.
Wookey is a quaint country village situated in a highly desired location. There is a primary school in the village, a walkable distance from our new site, with secondary schools in easy reach in Wells.
There are plenty of family activities in the area including the famous attraction Wookey Hole Caves that are just a small distance from the village. Wookey is also only a 5-minute drive from the city of Wells, where you can find supermarkets, high street shops and lots of things to do.
